Yamazaki Whisky Category

Yamazaki whisky is a single malt whisky, renowned for its distinctive flavors. It belongs to the single malt whisky category, and it proudly hails from Japan. Produced by Suntory, a well-known Japanese manufacturer of Western-style liquors and beers, and has earned international acclaim.

Produced at Japan’s first and oldest malt distillery, the Yamazaki Distillery in Osaka, the whisky carries a rich history. Shinjiro Torii founded the distillery in 1923 in the Vale of Yamazaki, a location chosen for its pure water supply and ideal maturation climate. Thanks to these natural advantages, the whiskies develop unique characteristics over time.

Ages its whiskies in a variety of casks, including American oak, Spanish oak, and the rare Japanese Mizunara oak. This variety of aging processes contributes to the complexity and depth of flavor in each bottle. The distillery offers a range of expressions, such as the Yamazaki Distiller’s Reserve, 12 Years Old, 18 Years Old, 25 Years Old, and the special Sherry Cask edition.

Yamazaki has also gained widespread recognition through prestigious awards. For instance, in the World Whiskies Awards 2017  , the  12 Years Old won its category. Furthermore, in Jim Murray’s Whisky Bible of 2013, the  Sherry Cask was named the “World’s Best Whisky.”

In conclusion, it continues to impress with its exceptional craftsmanship and distinct flavor profile.
