One of the most sought-after whiskies at the moment is The Macallan Archival Series, which was first introduced in 2015. The whisky collecting community has been slightly taken aback by the precipitous surge in the last 12 months alone, with values doubling and quadrupling everywhere. The series will eventually consist of 24 distinct releases, each honoring the iconic Macallan advertising campaigns from the 1970s, 1980s, and 1990s.
The vintage-style, narrative advertising prints that Macallan uses in their Archival Series are regarded as the starting point, introducing the company and its whiskies to a far larger audience. Co-founder of Bartle Bogle Hegarty, a global advertising agency, Sir John Hegarty, described the advertisements as “witty, smart, idiosyncratic and above all memorable.
It’s amazing to think that we have only seen a quarter of “The Archival Series'” whole run thus far. If Folio 1 through 6 are representative, then we have a lot to be excited about!
