Chichibu 2010 Whisky Talk 2016 Fukuoka is a remarkable release from the Chichibu Distillery. Distilled in 2010, it was bottled in 2016 at 59.4% ABV. Only 306 bottles were filled, making it a rare find. The distillery, founded in 2007, is Japan’s youngest. It rose from the ashes of the Hanyu distillery, started by Ichiru Akuto’s grandfather. This whisky was specifically created for the Whisky Talk event in Fukuoka, where whisky lovers celebrated Japanese whisky culture. As a result, it holds a special place in the hearts of collectors.

What are the tasting notes ?

Nose:
The nose is light but captivating. It reveals bourbon cask notes, along with cotton candy, fresh banana, and vanilla. Hints of honey, papaya chips, and light toffee follow. You also catch some chalk, gauze bandage, and grated coconut.

Taste:
The flavor mirrors the nose with coconut, light mineral tones, and honey. It also has chamomile tea, almond milk, vanilla, and honeydew melon. Lychee adds a fresh touch, while light malt rounds it out.

Finish:
The finish is dry with cereals and light oak. Vanilla and papaya linger. It’s medium to long, leaving a lasting impression.
